Abstract
Indian English Literature has evolved into a globally significant body of writing that reflects India's cultural diversity, historical experience, and contemporary realities. Through English, Indian authors have communicated local experiences to international audiences while preserving indigenous traditions. Contemporary writers examine identity, globalization, migration, caste, gender, environmental concerns, technology, and social justice. Their works have influenced education, media, cinema, and academic scholarship. This paper studies the role and influence of Indian English Literature in the contemporary era by examining its evolution, major themes, representative writers, and contribution to global literary discourse. It argues that Indian English Literature serves as a bridge between tradition and modernity, strengthening intercultural understanding and promoting democratic and humanistic values.
