Abstract:
This study presents a 30-day qualitative autoethnographic inquiry into embodied yogic self-governance through sustained yogic sādhana involving prolonged static holds in postures including Tolasana, Naukasana, Chaturaṅga Daṇḍāsana, Mayūrāsana, and Padma Mayūrāsana. Drawing upon classical yogic concepts including tapas, svādhyāya, abhyāsa, dhāraṇā, vairāgya, and ātma-vinigraha, the inquiry explores whether disciplined embodied practice may cultivate capacities associated with resilience, attentional steadiness, emotional composure, discomfort tolerance, and reflective self-regulation. Reflective phenomenological observations documented progressive adaptation in breath regulation, attentional stability, emotional steadiness, and reduced quitting impulse under sustained physical challenge.
